Activekids

The Design Council challenged us to think about preventing obesity in new ways, in order to come up with a service and networked solutions, touch points and a value proposition. We developed and designed a solution to educate children in a playful way to encourage them, and their families, to get outside and enjoy the outdoors for a healthier lifestyle.

Goals and Objectives

The ojectives are to educate children to encourage them and their family to get more outside and enjoy the outdoors. We believe that targeted activities can help kids rediscover traditional outdoor activities in an entertaining and enjoyable way.

Ideal results of the project are kids that have fun and feel good, about themselves and their body, physically and psychologically. We hope to change the way kids think about their body and be more self conscious about how they treat it.

What is Service Design?

Touch Points

A service is assembled from multiple touch points that are experienced over time. When designing a service we define the whole experience and consider how the touch points come together to create a consistant and compelling experience. Experience prototyping is part of the process.

Touch Point 1: Website

The website provides the initial touch point of the service. This is how users can access information, but more importantly sign up for the service. There is an initial cost to become a member and purchase the imago device. Then a monthly subscription business model is used to keep the service going.

Touch Point 2: Device

This is where the child keeps the character he or she has chosen for that month. All points and items that have been acquired by doing activities are also stored on the device. When the child has successfully completed an activity the parent, family member or friend can give the child a point by transferring it from their cell phone to the device.

Touch Point 3: Story

When the child has done the activity the parents give him/her points. Now the child can buy items for their character. The child can load the new items he selected with points gained to the website. The website generates stories that develop according to how the child's character is doing which is a different reflection on the activities the child has accomlished.
